Moon Trip

One of the games I'm currently playing is called by various names, but essentially is based on Verne's A Trip to the Moon It's an adventure game with lots of clicking just to figure out, and lots of restarts, and, well it isn't as easy as it sounds. It is a beautiful game, and really has a Riven quality to it, though cartoonish, in a Victorian way. I'm determined to finish it!

One of the problems I have with many of the expensive games I have bought is that I rarely finish them. I get to a point where I'm stuck and just quit. Even games that cost around $60 languish on my drive, unused. This one was $6.99 from Big Fish. Love it!

I have finished all but 3 of the games I have bought through them; this one, Enlightenus, and Syberia II are still in process.

Just finished playing Enlightenus - a great adventure/hidden object/puzzle game. Realy enjoyed it, and will probably buy the next one.At least it was a finished story and doesn't force me to buy a second version to continue the story like so many games have lately.

Well, I've been through a bunch since the last post. Dire Grove was great, and a finished story, yet it still allows for the series to continue. I'm playing several fight now. Dream Chronicles - I'm on the third of four games. And Siberia - first of two. Oh, and NiBiRu. Really nice graphics.They are time wasters, but a great way to calm the mind before going to bed. At least for me.

I've really enjoyed computer gaming since the old DOS days. Back then they were the old arcade style. I was really spoiled when Windows got big and Myst came out. Immersive worlds are my favorite. I guess that's why I enjoyed the movie Avatar so much; it let me become part of the world in a way most movies don't. Not that I'm a big 3D fan. It gives me headaches. Wearing funny glasses is not my idea of a good time. It's bad enough that I have to wear them to read or see anything close to my face.

But back to games - I sure do enjoy them. Yet I still find myself sitting in front of the TV at night with an old fashioned newspaper crossword puzzle.

Games. Fun, technological, or not. Enjoy.

Dire Grove

Oooh - a good one. Part of the Mystery Case Files series, this one is amazing. I went for the collector's edition which includes the strategy guide and some extras. Glad I did. Only about half-way through but I am really enjoying it. It is set in an icy village so you get really cold - dress warm!

Finished it - great game but it is a to be continued. That seems to be a trend with the latest games. This is about the fourth one I have finished that leaves it open for the next one. Just give me an entire story - all wrapped up with no questions left!

Well, I will get the next installment. The ploy works. :-)

Crosswords

Ok, I've become my mother. Well, at least I am into one of her favorite pastimes. I've begun doing crossword puzzles. It began with the TV Guide, then progressed into an occasional LA Times puzzle. Once in a while, I'll do the one in the local Glendale paper. It's fun. And educational, sort of. I do learn some new words. and it exercised my memory. I usually do them after dinner, while watching TV. I can't just sit and watch TV - too boring. I have to be doing at least two things at a time.

Funny how the old-fashioned low-tech things are sometimes the most fun.

Solitaire

Ok, Fairy Solitaire. It's addictive. I love seeing the little creatures that mature while I play. I love the fact that it isn't timed. Pretty graphics. Good music. Winning a hand.

I also like Tri-Peaks Solitaire. Similar, yet different graphic content and I collect museum pieces instead of little creatures.

Both are really fun, and available from Big Fish Games.

Well, now I am hooked up with a tool bar and every day a new game is offered. Haven't gone for too many of them, but sure do like those hidden objects. Good games to relax with.

Having an enjoyable time with the monthly games from Big Fish. The newest one I've bought is called Anabelle. the storyline is that a young woman named Anabelle disappears from an Egyptian museum only to show up in ancient Egypt - as a princess! Very intriguing puzzles, and easy or hard depending on if you use the help/hint button or not. Beautiful graphics.

HIdden Object Games

Well, I finally chose and bought two of the hidden object games. One is about an old manor house in England and you have to solve the mystery of the woman who used to live there. "Ravenhearst". Finished it once, really fun. Now I get to beat my own time. Finished the other game, too. "Magic Academy", really a beautifully drawn game.

Both are good to pass the time when I have to keep quiet because my husband is sleeping. (See my other blog, Faith, for the detail on that.)

I recommend Big Fish Games if you are interested in trying out one before buying; the prices are as good as the games.

Well, I'm hooked on a new kind of game called "hidden objects" where you search for items hidden in plain sight. I really like them, and have found a site where you can download free versions that work for an hour before quitting. Big Fish Games. If I could afford it right now I'd have bought about 6 of them!

Life gets in the way

Well, I've just been too busy to do much gaming lately; I do play Scrabble on the Palm, but not much on the computer. I want to get Myst IV and V eventualy, but probably after the holidays. My time has been used on other things lately.

Too Tired

As I write this I have discovered that most nights I am too tired to do any gaming. Still a little downhill via boarderzone, but since tiredness messes up my coordination, not much of that, either. I do want to get back to the Star Wars Ep 1 game, but too lazy to dig out the CD.

One thing I still do is Scrabble on my Palm. That is usually with me and keeps me from being bored while waiting. For anything.

Boarder Zone

Been swooshing down the virtual slopes with my snowboarding game, Boarder Zone. A great ride :-) and good for the stress levels. I am still fascinated by the scenery and how it allows me to go off course and explore a little of the countryside. Beautiful graphics, skill needed, and once in a while fun to hit a tree!

My speed is increasing and I even came in 5th (of 6 racers) for once instead of 6th.

Well, now I'm into Frankenstein: Through the Eyes of the Monster. Good game, decent graphics. Tim Curry is the doctor. I've got it on the laptop so let's see how far I go before boredome sets in. So far, its fun.

Well, got bored with all the Dooms, and am stuck on Scrabble of all things. Still don't have Myst Revelations, but one of these days. Guess sometimes life is too busy to deal with games.

Myst Experience

I have always enjoyed the Myst series of games, though I didn't bother with URU. Can't wait until I get to the new one. Trying out the demo and so far it is dazzling. Especially the moon!
